getting started in your county
The curriculum design and content can be customized
for any North Carolina county to ensure maximum relevancy to the local
population. SAFETeens ThinkFirst representatives will take area
specific information and photos provided by the participating agencies
through the county coordinator to tailor the curriculum content to
reflect local incidents and address local issues.
Team training, curriculum revisions, appendix updates, equipment
purchases, and related support services are included under the start
up fee and licensing agreement. Administrative oversight and quality
control are provided throughout the first year of implementation.
Reporting for evaluation purposes continues beyond the first year. The
designated county coordinator provides the valuable link between the
support services of the N. C. SAFETeens staff and local
implementation.
Local agencies are given the opportunity to do what they do best, in
an innovative and unified format. They play an integral role in
improving and sustaining the quality of life in the community for all
residents. Each agency has a community outreach structure and mandate
already in place. SAFETeens ThinkFirst provides the opportunity
to meet already established agency goals.
The first steps toward a SAFETeens ThinkFirst community are:
- Contact N. C. SAFETeens, Inc. for the
complete Getting Started Guide.
- Use the Guide to estimate the local financial
support and time commitment your community can provide.; Counties
are encouraged to seek local matching funding to engage the whole
community and insure long-term sustainability of the project. Fees
vary by county, but the initial implementation costs average
$3000-$4000.
- Discuss initiation and implementation time frame
with the staff representative.
- Please contact us for more information about
potential funding resources.
